A transient was jailed after barricading himself in a motel room in Myrtle Creek on Wednesday.
A report from the Myrtle Creek Police said just before 9:00 a.m. an employee reported that the 38-year old was refusing to leave the Green Tree Inn in the 300 block of North Main. The report said the man had paid for a room for two nights and then checked out but kept the key on Tuesday. He allegedly returned that night and stayed in the room. The man refused to come out when asked to by both staff and police.
Additional police arrived on the scene and the man finally came out three hours later. While being taken to jail. the suspect reportedly kicked and broke the patrol car camera.
Travis Atkins was charged with first degree counts of burglary and trespass, second degree criminal mischief, third degree theft and for interfering with police. Atkins was detained on $270,000 bail.
