FREEWAY TRAFFIC MOVING INTO CALIFORNIA

January 28, 2021 10:20 a.m.

Interstate Five southbound traffic is now moving into California again.

An update from the Oregon Department of Transportation said at the request of Caltrans, ODOT has lifted its closure of the road beginning in Ashland. ODOT will meter traffic that is heading south so drivers should expect slow traffic and long delays.

Once in California, motorists should expect more delays and congestion. Traffic may be stopped in places due to winter driving conditions in the corridor toward Redding. Drivers going into California should be prepared to install chains. Chains are not currently required in Oregon going over the Siskiyou Summit, but must be carried.
