Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for much of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said an Advisory is in place for parts of central Douglas County above 1,500 feet between 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and 4:00 a.m. Wednesday. Snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches with higher amounts at higher elevations are expected. Winds will gust as high as 40 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes Azalea, Tiller, and portions of Interstate Five including the Smith, Stage, and Canyon Creek passes. Also included is a portion of route 227 at Tiller.
An Advisory is also in place from 12:00 p.m. Tuesday through 4:00 a.m. Wednesday for the Southern Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake. 6 to 9 inches of snow is forecast with locally higher amounts up to 12 inches. Winds will gust as high as 60 miles per hour. This includes highways 62, 230 and 138 near Diamond Lake.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult in both areas. In mountain areas, expect slippery conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
