The suspect in a recent stabbing has been arrested by the Myrtle Creek Police.

Detective Kevin Taggart said Friday just after 11:30 a.m. 18-year old Desmond Garcia contacted authorities through family members and said he wanted to turn himself in. Garcia had been sought since a 40-year old man was stabbed at Millsite Park in Myrtle Creek on Tuesday night. Taggart said two suspects had approached the victim and a confrontation ensued which led to the stabbing. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

MCPD took Garcia into custody in Canyonville.

Charges include assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing. Garcia is held on $306,250 bail.

Taggart thanked citizens who called in tips during the investigation.
