PICKUP AND LOG TRUCK COLLIDE IN DOWNTOWN ROSEBURG

January 22, 2021 10:00 a.m.

No one was hurt when a pickup and a log truck collided in downtown Roseburg Thursday morning.

A report from Roseburg Police said just after 10:00 a.m. both vehicles were headed east on Oak as they approached the intersection with Northeast Stephens. The pickup was in the far-left lane while the log truck was in the middle lane. The report said both vehicles went through the intersection and collided near the painted divider between the two lanes.

Both drivers claimed they were within their own lane and that the other driver was at fault. The report said an independent witness indicated the pickup appeared to be traveling straight through the intersection and drove under the left front tire of the log truck.

There was minimal damage to the log truck, but the pickup appeared to be totaled. That driver, a 75-year old Myrtle Creek man, was cited for making a dangerous left turn.
