Myrtle Creek Police have identified a suspect in a Tuesday night stabbing and are seeking help from the public in finding him.

Detective Kevin Taggart said that evening at about 8:15 p.m. officers were called to Millsite Park for a report that a man had been stabbed. Taggart said the 40-year old victim was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center to be treated for non-life- threatening injuries.

Taggart said it was discovered during the investigation that two subjects had approached the victim and a confrontation ensued. At some point, one of the two stabbed the victim twice, then both fled the scene on foot.

MCPD, with assistance from the Oregon State Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have developed a suspect in the case.

Taggart said MCPD has probable cause to arrest 18-year old Desmond Garcia on assault charges in connection with the stabbing. Garcia was last known to be staying in Myrtle Creek, but may have fled the area. Anyone who knows of Garcia’s whereabouts is urged to call MCPD at 440-4471. Taggart said if anyone sees Garcia, they should consider him armed and dangerous and not confront him, but call 911 instead.
