MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR DAY CLOSURES

January 18, 2021 3:40 a.m.

Monday is the Martin Luther King Junior Day and that means there are many closures.

Federal, state, county and city offices are not open. No regular mail will be delivered. Banks and credit unions are closed. Schools are not in session.

The holiday was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983 and it was first observed three years later. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

Hear the Martin Luther King Junior Day Special Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. from CBS Audio. The program will have a number of interviews plus you’ll hear segments of speeches given by Dr. King himself. That program will air on News Radio 1240 KQEN.
