A Yoncalla man was taken to the hospital; after his vehicle was hit by a Roseburg Police SUV on Thursday.

An RPD report said at about 3:30 p.m. an officer was traveling north on Northeast Stephens behind another vehicle. As the vehicles approached the intersection with Diamond Lake Boulevard the first vehicle stopped for the light, but the police officer was unable to stop his vehicle in time, causing it to rear end the other vehicle.

The first driver, age 66, was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for complaints of back pain. He was treated and released according to a hospital spokesperson. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
