Roseburg Police jailed a man Wednesday in connection with reported burglary and theft incidents.
An RPD report said just after 9:00 p.m. tenants who live in the 1,200 block of Southeast Jackson returned home to find that their house had been burglarized. Officers followed police K9 Axel tracking a few blocks south from the scene, where they found 35-year old Michael Hatton allegedly in possession of property stolen from the house.
While assisting officers on that case, Hatton was identified as a suspect in another case. The report said officers discovered the man also allegedly stole a bike a couple of blocks away. The bike was recovered and returned to the owner.
Charges included first degree burglary, unlawful possession of hydrocodone and a schedule four controlled substance, two counts of second-degree theft, and second- degree criminal trespass. Bail was set at $271,500.
