A Roseburg man was hurt in a motorcycle versus pickup accident on Wednesday night.

Information from Roseburg Police said just after 5:00 p.m. a pickup driven by a 53-year old man had been stopped at the corner of Imbler and Northeast Stephens when it pulled out to turn left.

Witnesses said a motorcyclist was traveling north on Winchester and merged onto Northeast Stephens at a high rate of speed. The rider, 26-year old Grant O’Neil, dumped his motorcycle onto its side where it slid at least 75 feet before it collided with the rear wheel of the pickup. The report said the bike was traveling fast enough that it sheared part of the rear axle of the truck, and spun it 90 degrees.

O’Neil slid and cartwheeled on the pavement, sustaining road rash and other soft tissue injuries. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center to be treated.

O’Neil was cited for reckless driving, for having no operators license and for driving uninsured.
