A 38-year old man was jailed following an alleged assault in Winston Saturday night.

A report from Winston Police said just before 7:30 p.m. officers received a report of an assault on Grape Street in Winston. When officers arrived, a female victim was found to have a laceration on top of her head after reportedly being stuck with a broom.

During the investigation, 38-year old Jason Mathis was taken into custody and charged with second degree assault. Bail was set at $250,000.
