COVID-19 CLAIMS 2 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 1,605, AS OF SUNDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 2 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 1,605, as of Sunday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 1,225 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 125,683. The new cases include:

*11 each in Coos and Jefferson counties

*10 each in Hood River and Wasco counties

*6 each in Clatsop and Union counties

*5 in Baker County

*4 each in Lincoln, Morrow and Wallowa counties

*1 each in Curry, Malheur and Tillamook counties

Oregon’s 1604th COVID-19 death was a 96-year old woman in Lane County, who tested positive on December 29th and died on January 7th at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.

Oregon’s 1605th COVID-19 death was a 69-year old man who tested positive on November 17th and died on January 9th.

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 403, which is 18 fewer than on Saturday. There are 84 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 3 more than on Saturday.

On Saturday, 8,648 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of that total, 6,505 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday, and 2,143 were administered on previous days but were entered into the registry on Saturday. As of Saturday, 2.2 percent of Oregonians have been vaccinated for COVID-19. OHA has administered 37 percent of the state’s current allocation of vaccine doses.
