TWO POLICE AGENCIES SEEKING MYRTLE CREEK MAN

Two local police agencies are seeking a Myrtle Creek man following a number of incidents involving a motorcycle in the past few weeks.

Detective Kevin Taggart of the Myrtle Creek Police said on the evening of December 20th, an officer observed a black sport-style motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed on South Main Street near Mill Street. Taggart said when officers tried to stop the rider, the man sped off down Riverside Drive and a pursuit ensued. It was terminated due to unsafe conditions in a residential neighborhood.

On December 29th at about 10:30 p.m., officers heard the motorcycle racing around neighborhood streets in Myrtle Creek. An officer spotted it flying through the intersection of Northeast Neal and Riverside Drive. Another pursuit ensued, but was also terminated due to the rider’s reckless driving.

Taggart said after an investigation, MCPD was able to identify 32-year old Monte Young as the suspect.

On Wednesday afternoon at about 12:30 p.m., a motorcycle crash was reported in the 1600 block of West Central in Sutherlin. Taggart said the rider fled the area before police arrived, leaving evidence, including a motorcycle, at the crash scene. Both MCPD and the Sutherlin Police worked together to confirm that Young was also involved in that incident. The motorcycle abandoned at the scene was determined to be the same one, he had earlier eluded police on.

MCPD served a warrant and seized the motorcycle.

Taggart said Young is described as around 5 foot 9 inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen with a brown scruffy beard. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Monte Young is asked to contact either department by calling 440-4471.
