January 6, 2021 3:45 a.m.

Students in the Sutherlin School District will begin returning to in-person instruction next week.

Information on the district website, said the change is due to improved countywide metrics as well as changes from state officials.

Superintendent Terry Prestianni said grades PK-5 will return on Monday January 11th while secondary students in grades 6-12 return on Tuesday January 19th. Grades 6-12 will return to the A/B schedule they were on prior to Thanksgiving. Students that were enrolled in comprehensive distance learning prior to the Thanksgiving break, will remain in distance learning. Those who were attending school in-person prior to Thanksgiving will return to school in-person on the dates mentioned.

Prestianni said home meal deliveries will continue for distance learning students. In-person students will have meals served at school, but still need to order them in advance.
