COVID-19 CLAIMS 2 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 1,492 AS OF SATURDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 2 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 1,492, as of Saturday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 1,010 new confirmed and positive test results, bringing the state total to 116,348. The new cases include:

*197 in Multnomah County

*134 in Marion County

*101 in Lane County

*91 in Washington County

*78 in Klamath County

*66 in Deschutes County

*53 in Umatilla County

*37 in Polk County

*35 each in Josephine and Linn counties

*28 in Jefferson County

*26 in Columbia County

*22 in Jackson County

*18 in Benton County

*16 in Lincoln County

*14 in Malheur County

*11 each in Douglas and Hood River counties

*10 each in Crook and Wasco counties

*5 in Tillamook County

*4 in Morrow County

*2 each in Baker, Gilliam and Harney counties

*1 each in Curry and Wallowa counties

Oregon’s 1,491st COVID-19 death is a 75-year old woman in Hood River County. He tested positive on December 19th and died on January 1st at her residence. She had underlying conditions.

Oregon’s 1,492nd COVID-19 death is a 95-year old woman in Douglas County. She tested positive and died on December 31st at Mercy Medical Center. The presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

OHA said the number of hospitalized COVID-19 across Oregon is 468, which is 2 more than on Friday. There are 109 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is unchanged from Friday.

On Saturday, OHA recorded 880 doses of vaccine administered, raising the state’s total number of first vaccine doses administered to 45,295. That is based on preliminary reports that 419 doses were administered on Friday, as well as 461 doses administered on days prior that had not been recorded.

To date, 190,500 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon.
