POLICE SEEK MOTORCYCLIST FOR REPEATED PURSUIT INCIDENTS

December 31, 2020 3:35 a.m.

Officers from the Myrtle Creek Police Department are seeking a motorcyclist who appears to have been involved in several high-speed pursuit incidents in recent weeks.

Police Chief Jonathan Brewster told News Radio 1240 KQEN said the latest pursuit was on Monday night in the area of Northeast Johnson and Northeast Neal Lane.

Brewster said while not confirmed, officers believe all the pursuits could involve the same rider. Brewster said the pursuits have been terminated each time for safety reasons due to the excessive speeds the motorcyclist has been riding at. He said the rider has been called in multiple times by citizens for excessive speeds and reckless driving in town and in residential neighborhoods, prior to any police engagement.

Brewster said on one occasion the rider was clocked on radar at over 80 miles per hour in a posted 35 mile per hour speed zone. MCPD is actively working these cases as they try to positively identify a suspect.

Brewster told KQEN any help from the public in identifying the rider would be greatly appreciated.
