FLOOD POTENTIAL OUTLOOK FOR DOUGLAS AND COASTAL COUNTIES

December 31, 2020 3:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Potential Outlook for significant rises on main stem rivers, and potential flooding of small streams in Douglas, Coos and Curry counties.

Forecasters said an active and wet pattern containing a strong atmospheric river will bring a widespread rainfall to the region this weekend into early next week. Small streams and creeks will likely rise significantly during this active weather pattern. Forecasters said more rain is expected in the middle of the week, but confidence is low as to where the heaviest rain will fall. The extended period of wet weather may result in some main stem rivers nearing bank full.
