WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING

December 26, 2020 6:30 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place through 10:00 a.m. Saturday for the south- central Oregon Cascades, including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said wet snow is expected above 4,500 feet. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Winds gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour will lead to blowing snow in exposed areas such as through passes, on or near peaks, and on ridge lines.

The Advisory areas includes highways 138, 230, 62 and 140.

Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. Recent significant snowfall in this area on Friday and overnight, in addition to more snow on Saturday morning, will make travel difficult if precautions are not taken.

An additional 2 inches of snow is expected at the Siskiyou summit on Interstate Five Saturday morning.
