COVID-19 WEEKLY REPORT SHOWS DROP IN CASES AND HOSPITALIZATIONS

On Wednesday, the Oregon Health Authority released the COVID-19 weekly report, which showed a drop in weekly cases and hospitalizations, but a record high in weekly deaths.

OHA reported 8,745 new daily cases during the week of Monday December 14th through Sunday December 20th. That represented a 5 percent decrease over the previous week. It was also the second straight week of declining cases.

The report showed 437 people hospitalized for COVID-19, an 11 percent decline from the previous week. There were 186 COVID-19 associated deaths, a pandemic high.

There were 167,335 tests for COVID-19 for the week of December 13th through the 19th. The percentage of positive tests dipped to 6.3 percent.

People age 20 to 49 have accounted for 55 percent of the cases while people age 70 and older have accounted for 76 percent of the deaths.
