A Canyonville man was jailed on drug, escape and other charges following two alleged incidents in south Douglas County on Thursday morning.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 4:00 a.m. a victim called to say that Dustin Demarchi had knocked on his door at a residence in the 600 block of Bills Road in the Myrtle Creek area. By the time he got to the door, the victim said the suspect was kneeling next to his truck and stuck a knife into a tire, causing the air to escape. Demarchi then allegedly fled. The report said the suspect was apparently mad about not getting paid for a job he had already been paid for.

Just before 9:00 a.m. Demarchi came back to the residence and was reportedly causing a disturbance. When told that he was under arrest, the suspect allegedly took off running. After he was caught, 8.6 grams of heroin was allegedly located along with over $1,200.

Charges included unlawful possession and delivery of heroin, second degree criminal mischief, third degree escape and for a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
