December 15, 2020 10:30 a.m. (updated December 16, 5:30 a.m.)

Students and staff at Brockway Elementary School in Winston are now in quarantine after a staff member at the school tested positive for COVID-19.

Superintendent Kevin Miller said the Winston-Dillard School District is working very closely with the Douglas Public Health Network and at this time are asking all students that were receiving in-person instruction to quarantine for 14 days.

Miller said there may be a few students that did not have close contact. Parents of children that do not need to quarantine, or to quarantine for a shorter period of time, will be notified by school officials.

A release said that all in-person learning at Brockway has been cancelled for the rest of the week. An update on the Brockway Elementary Facebook page said learning materials for students have been prepared and can be picked in front of the school cafeteria. The update said current distance learners will remain on schedule.

The district has not released information regarding the total number of people in quarantine from this outbreak.
