A 39-year old man was jailed on a heroin charge early Saturday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12:30 a.m. a deputy was near the corner of Stella and Austin investigating a disturbance. Two vehicles drove past the deputy and the first vehicle committed several traffic violations.

The report said the vehicle stalled and the driver, Michael Schwender, was detained for failing to carry and present a driver license. He was allegedly found to be in possession of 2.5 grams of the drug and had two warrants for his arrest. Schwender was detained without bail.
