LOCAL AGENCIES ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR FEMA ASSISTANCE

December 14, 2020 3:45 a.m.

Local agencies are encouraged to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency with Monday being the deadline to do so.

A release from the Douglas County Board of Commissioners said the county was declared a federal disaster area by the President on September 15th, due to the wildfires that burned locally. Due to the declaration, federal funds are available to local and tribal governments, state agencies, special districts and certain private nonprofit organizations. This is for emergency work and the repair and replacement of public facilities damaged by wildfires.

For information on how to submit a Request for Public Assistance, contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Division at 440-4448.
