ATTORNEY GENERAL REMINDS OREGONIANS TO GIVE WISELY

Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum is reminding Oregonians to “give wisely” this holiday season.

A release said with the COVID-19 pandemic and wildfire recovery impacting people throughout the state, she is thankful residents can turn to charities to provide critical services and resources for both individuals and communities. She said those who are in a position to donate money, should do their research and make informed decisions in order to maximize their giving.

Rosenblum said one way to support wildfire recovery is to give to the 2020 Community Rebuilding Fund, a joint effort of the Oregon Community Foundation, the Meyer Memorial Trust and the Ford Family Foundation: https://oregoncf.org/oregon-fire-relief-recovery/community-rebuilding-fund/

The release said to avoid potential charity scams, resident should:

*Do their research

*Only give to registered charities

*Know that monetary donations are usually preferred

*Be wary of telephone, text, email or door-to-door solicitations

*Remember that not all gifts are tax deductible
