ROSEBURG LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM CONTINUES

December 8, 2020 3:25 a.m.

The City of Roseburg Public Works Department leaf collection program continues.

Communications Specialist Eric Johnson said residents who would like to participate in the program should pile their leaves neatly in front of their property.

Public Works Director Brice Perkins said the service is provided as a way to help residents with leaf removal and to make sure streets and public right of way are free of leaves. Perkins said if not removed, leaves can clog gutters and storm drains, which can cause flooding during rainstorms.

Johnson said the collection program moves in a clockwise direction throughout the town. The entire process takes approximately four to six weeks, depending on the quantity of leaves picked up.

*Leaves should be free of debris, such as tree branches and rocks

*Leaves should not be placed in street gutters, ditches, bike lanes, near parked cars or on top of catch basins

*City crews will not pick up any other items beside leaves

Leaves will be collected through early January.
