A female transient was jailed on stolen vehicle charges Wednesday night in the Reedsport area.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 11:00 p.m. a deputy contacted the woman who was acting suspicious in a parking lot on Lower Smith River Road. The deputy determined the woman was driving a vehicle which was reported stolen out of Roseburg.
The report said the deputy caught up to the vehicle which yielded. The woman was given verbal commands but then took off. She was pursued for about 18 miles before coming to a dead-end gate on Easter Seal Road. The suspect was again given commands but turned around and ran into the deputy’s vehicle, as she tried to get away.
Coos County units located the vehicle traveling back on Schofield Road at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. The vehicle ran out of fuel and the woman was taken into custody.
28-year old Mikyna Odom was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, attempt to elude, reckless driving, and for driving while suspended. After arraignment, she was detained on $15,000 bail.
