FEMA APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED, HELP STILL AVAILABLE

December 3, 2020 3:50 a.m.

The November 30th deadline to apply for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency has passed, but help is still available for wildfire survivors as FEMA continues working with the Oregon Office of Emergency Management.

A release said homeowners and renters who applied for FEMA disaster assistance have the right to appeal FEMA’s eligibility decisions. Survivors who do not agree with FEMA’s eligibility decision may file an appeal within 60 days of receiving their letter, even though the application deadline has passed. To learn more about the appeals process, including what to include and how to file an appeal can go to: https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20201026/how-appeal-fema-disaster-assistance-decision

The release said applicants should stay in touch with FEMA to ensure the disaster assistance process stays on track. That can be done by going to https://www.disasterassistance.gov/, downloading the FEMA app or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
