A Roseburg man was jailed for an alleged assault on Monday night.

A report from Roseburg Police said at about 11:00 p.m. a victim reported that Michael Kennedy Junior had hit him numerous times the previous day. The victim said he had to leave their hotel room in the 1000 block of Northeast Stephens over fear that the suspect would harm him again.

The report said the victim had a loose tooth which allegedly came from the 52-year old hitting him. The suspect was also a registered sex offender out of Lincoln County and had failed to report his address change after living in the motel room for approximately two months.

Kennedy was charged with fourth degree assault, menacing and for failure to report as a sex offender. He was detained on $3,000 bail.

He was released from custody on Tuesday.
