SUTHERLIN – A Sutherlin Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19 and all on-site classes at the school will be canceled for today, according to a release from Sutherlin School District Superintendent Terry Prestianni.

In a statement released by the district, the Student had not been in class since last week. The district started notifying staff and parents of children in the student’s cohort on Tuesday, asking them to quarantine and monitor for symptoms.

Sutherlin School District says it has been working closely with the Douglas Public Health Network to address this public health concern and ensure the safety of all students and staff.

All other Sutherlin schools will continue with classes as planned for today. The district will be returning to comprehensive distance learning for all schools on Monday, November 30.
