SUTHERLIN SCHOOLS GOING TO DISTANCE LEARNING

November 24, 2020 3:50 a.m.

The Sutherlin School District is going to Comprehensive Distance Learning starting on Monday.

Information from the district said the move is due to the increase in local COVID-19 cases, as well as staffing difficulties related to obtaining substitutes. Superintendent Terry Prestianni said with staff following protocols for staying home when sick and quarantining when directed, it has become very difficult to continue staffing the district’s buildings. Prestianni said the decision was not taken lightly and it was a very difficult one to make. He hopes to return to onsite instruction as soon as possible.

A release said additional information and support will be provided to families during remote learning.
