A motorcyclist eluded police on Wednesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at about 12:30 p.m. a motorcycle was parked suspiciously at Seven Feathers in Canyonville. The report said the license plate on it didn’t’ return to the correct motorcycle. An unknown man got on and rode off while a deputy tried to stop him.
The report said the rider eluded the deputy going southbound on Interstate Five and the deputy lost sight of it after chasing it for several miles. The motorcycle was spotted again, this time going east on Junction Road. The bike got back on the freeway heading south near Glendale. The pursuit re-engaged and the bike was followed to the 2000 block of Speaker Road where the deputy lost sight of it again. Fresh tracks were spotted on a nearby Forest Service Road and the motorcycle was found crashed about two miles up that road.
K9 Grim tracked for approximately 45 minutes, finding the helmet and a jacket, but not locating the suspect.
The registered owner was contacted and said the motorcycle had been sold several times since he had owned it.
