A special “Reverse” 2020 Douglas County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Wednesday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. with floats and entries stationary in the parking lot, while those attending will drive past in their vehicles. This year’s Grand Marshals will be military doctors and nurses with the theme, “Embrace the Past-Engage the Present-Envision the Future”.
A release from the Board of Commissioners said the route was moved to the fairgrounds to account for current social distancing guidelines, as well as the concern for the health and safety of residents during the pandemic. It is one of only two Veterans Day parades in Oregon that was not canceled due to the COVID-19 situation.
Aviva Health will offer a free drive through flu shot clinic at the fairgrounds as well. The clinic will also begin at 11:00 a.m.
