TWO MORE HUCREST STAFFERS IN QUARANTINE

November 5, 2020 1:25 p.m.

Two more staff members at Hucrest Elementary School in Roseburg have been advised to quarantine by public health authorities.

A release from Roseburg Public Schools said the news follows Tuesday’s announcement of a positive COVID-19 case at the school. Superintendent Jared Cordon said the district is working closely with the Douglas Public Health Network to respond to the situation and protect the health of the school community.

Cordon said at this time the individuals are at home self-isolating and monitoring for symptoms. Cordon said in collaboration with DPHN, the district is taking the following steps:

*Following contact tracing efforts, RPS decided that two additional classrooms should temporarily transition to remote learning out of an abundance of caution. Families directly impacted are being notified and will work with their teachers to navigate the transition.

*Instructional and resource support is being provided for students temporarily participating in remote learning.

Cordon said the district will continue to maintain safety protocols and guidelines established by the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority.
