One person was hospitalized after a vehicle apparently struck a bear early Wednesday morning.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12:20 a.m. a pickup was traveling on South Umpqua Road near Pickett Butte Road in the Tiller area when it ended up crashing into a rock wall. One passenger was taken to Mercy Medical Center for back pain. The driver and the other passenger were uninjured.
