DRIVER CITED, TWO SUPPORTS BENT ON BRIDGE

A commercial driver was cited after the truck he was operating struck the Green Bridge on Stewart Park Drive, and he didn’t report the accident.

A report from Roseburg Police said the incident took place Monday. The 59-year old was traveling over the bridge with an enclosed trailer when the vehicle drifted too far to the west side and struck two of the upper bridge supports. That reportedly tore open the front area of the trailer. Two of the supports were bent and the report said the City Engineer stated that they would have to be replaced.

The report said the man never made an attempt to contact the city or anyone, to see who had ownership of the structure. The man was contacted at the trucking company office on Tuesday and charged with failure to perform the duties of a driver. He was released after the citation was issued.
