BLM AMENDS CLOSURE ORDER IN ARCHIE CREEK FIRE

October 26,2020 3:40 a.m.

Officials with the Bureau of Land Management Roseburg District have modified the closure order for BLM managed lands in the Archie Creek Fire area.

The change means only BLM-administered lands within the burn perimeter of the fire are now closed. This includes portions of Rock Creek Road and all BLM campgrounds within the fire perimeter.

BLM-managed day use areas and pull-outs along Highway 138 that are not being used for the staging area for fire recovery activities are open. Cavitt Creek Falls and Scaredman campgrounds are closed for the season.

Roseburg District Manager Heather Whitman said many areas within the Archie Creek Fire remain extremely hazardous. She said the public is asked to avoid areas impacted by the fire and look for alternate recreation areas on the district

The release said the closure is necessary to protect public lands users from risks associated with the work going on in the area. All uses within the closure area are prohibited.
