NEARLY 19 PERCENT OF LOCAL VOTERS HAVE ALREADY CAST A BALLOT

October 22, 2020 4:00 a.m.

Nearly 19 percent of registered local voters have already cast their ballot for the November General Election.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN that 15,779 ballots have been received as of Wednesday. That is about 3.5 percent ahead of the participation rate for the 2016 Presidential Election and over 5.5 percent ahead of the 2012 Presidential Election. Loomis said of the ballots received, just over 10 percent have arrived via the U.S. Postal Service, and just over 35 percent have come directly to the courthouse. The remainder have come from other drop sites.

Loomis said voters that have not received their ballot by Thursday afternoon, should contact the Elections Office for a re-issue or replacement ballot.

Ballots are due back by 8:00 pm. on Tuesday November 3rd. They can be mailed in, taken to the courthouse, or placed in one of the several drop boxes around the county.
