SUTHERLIN/OAKLAND FOOD PANTRY WILL EXPAND HOURS

October 16, 2020 3:30 a.m.

The Sutherlin/Oakland Food Pantry is expanding its hours.

Pantry Director Wendy Wilson said the non-profit serves the Sutherlin, Oakland and surrounding north county areas, providing healthy staples along with Franz Bread, Umpqua Dairy milk and local produce, to those who need a little extra help each month.

Wilson said the group decided to open in the afternoon and early evening to reach those how can’t make it during the regular morning hours that the pantry is open. Beginning in November, hours will be Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wilson said the income qualifications have changed over the past year, so anyone who isn’t sure whether they fall within the income brackets, should contact the pantry for more information. She said the organization is operated by volunteers, so anyone who would like to help, should call them as well.

The Sutherlin/Oakland Food Pantry is at 183 East 1st Avenue in Sutherlin. Visit the pantry’s Facebook page for more information.
