City of Roseburg staff has provided a synopsis of Monday night’s City Council meeting.
*Councilors adopted an ordinance to prohibit smoking at community events in the downtown area. That passed on a 7-1 vote, with Councilor Ashley Hicks voting against the ordinance.
*Staff was directed to draft an ordinance to establish an Unhoused Commission
*Staff were directed to pursue trying to identify a non-profit organization to deliver services to the unhoused using the Rogue Retreat model
*Council supported the concept of identifying partners interested in opening and operating a navigation center. Further action is on hold
*Council directed staff regarding a pilot program for vehicle camping
A resolution authorizing a supplemental budget and budget appropriation revisions for the current fiscal year was approved.
The council meeting lasted for two and a half hours.
