The deadline to be registered to vote in the November General Election is approaching.
Information from Douglas County Clerk Dan Loomis said new voters must be registered by October 13th. Voters can change their party preference, or their address by going to www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote or by coming in to the Clerk’s Office at the Douglas County Courthouse. People displaced by the recent wildfires can use either option to register a temporary mailing address.
Ballots will be mailed on October 15th. They are due back by Tuesday November 3rd at 8:00 p.m. Those planning to mail their ballot back should allow plenty of time for it to be delivered back to the courthouse as postmarks do not count. Ballots can be mailed in without using a stamp. Ballots can also be taken to drop box sites around the county. A list of those locations is posted with this story at www.541radio.com: https://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp
