GATEWAY COMMUNITY GARDEN RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY SATURDAY

The Gateway Community Garden will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

A release from UC-VEG and the Blue Zones Project said the groups are working to better support and expand community gardens and garden-based education in the Umpqua Valley. There are currently several community gardens in Roseburg that are serving neighborhoods and the people in them.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and other activities will be begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Gateway Community Garden is adjacent to the Roseburg Senior Center on Southeast Stephens. The ribbon cutting will be will be held at 10:30 a.m. and will be accompanied by speeches from partners who are working on the project. A winter gardening workshop and garden question and answer time will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. That will be followed by a tour of the nearby Umpqua Dairy Community Garden at 12:30 p.m. Refreshments, educational handouts and complimentary starter seed kits will be offered as well.

The Gateway Community Garden is funded in a partnership with several organizations.
