SEMI-TRUCK PINS SUV AGAINST FREEWAY MEDIAN

No one was hurt when a semi-truck and an SUV got tangled up on Interstate Five Wednesday morning.

A report from Oregon State Police said the wreck took place in the northbound lanes near Tri-City, just after 7:30 a.m. The SUV driver told troopers that he was in the passing lane, going past the truck at about 70 miles per hour. The driver said for unknown reasons the rig came into his lane, pinning his vehicle against the center median. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The semi had very little damage. The truck driver said another vehicle was trying to merge onto the freeway and that is why he tried to change lanes. Several witnesses talked to troopers and all said they did not see a vehicle trying to merge.

The truck driver was cited for careless driving.
