Staff with the City of Winston has listed a number of opportunities for citizens to get involved in city government.

*There is one vacancy on the Planning Commission. The person selected will fulfill the remainder of a term through January 31st and then will be automatically reappointed for a four-year term which ends January 31st, 2025. The commission meets once per month on a Wednesday evening, and as needed.

*There are no vacancies on the Budget Committee but it is likely one will open up after the November election. The committee meets as needed during the budget process which runs from April to June. Terms last three years.

*The Park Board has two vacancies and is a three-year term. One vacancy will fulfill the reminder of the term until January 31st and then be automatically reappointed for a full term which ends January 31st, 2025. The other would finish a term which ends January 31st, 2023. The group meets the second Monday of the month.

*The Urban Renewal Advisory Committee has two vacancies and is a four-year term. There are currently two vacancies. One will fulfill the remainder of the term until the end of the year, then will automatically be reappointed for a full term, ending at the end of 2024. The other would finish a term which expires at the end of 2022. The committee meets as needed.
