The Archie Creek Fire burning east of Glide is 73 percent contained and has burned in 131,542 acres.
The latest update from the Southern Area Red Team said with Tuesday’s hot and dry weather, a hot spot flared up in steep ground on the northeast flank of the fire in the Zig Zag Creek and upper Trapper Creek areas. Helicopters dropped water on the flareups to cool them down. Firefighters will continue mop up efforts and related work on the fire. 836 people are working on that fire.
The Thielsen Fire near Diamond Lake is at 9,974 acres and still 69 percent contained.
