A student at Sutherlin Primary School has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement posted on Sutherlin School District website.
The notice said the district was notified by the Douglas Public Health Network and County Public Health Officer, Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer. It said school staff are working very closely with local public health officials and the Oregon Health Authority to notify parents of the children in the cohort that the child tested positive was in,and asking them to quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.
Dannenhoffer said, “This is a great example of a school doing everything right regarding student cohorts, reducing risk and mitigating transmission of COVID-19 in a school setting”. Dannenhoffer said he believes the risk is low to the school community. DPHN is available to assist families that are quarantining. Those impacted were notified by Sunday.
