ROSEBURG CITY COUNCIL MEETING VIA ZOOM MONDAY NIGHT

September 28, 2020 4:15 a.m.

A number of items are on the agenda, as the Roseburg City Council has a meeting via Zoom on Monday night.

Mayor Larry Rich will give an update on the council’s efforts to deal with the homeless situation, and will talk about potential next steps.

Councilors will consider an ordinance that would prohibit smoking at community events in downtown Roseburg and would add language in city code from parks rules and regulations regarding smoking on public property. This would apply to Jackson Street and Main Street between Douglas Avenue and Lane Street. County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer talked about the dangers of smoking at a prior council meeting. The proposal has the support of the Board of Directors of the Downtown Roseburg Association.

Councilors will vote on a consulting services contract recommendation, and on a task order for a water transmission main project.

The council will also consider authorizing City Manager Nikki Messenger to execute agreements to provide up to $625,000 in Coronavirus Relief Funds to qualified partners to deliver COVID-related programs in the city.

Community members with comments on agenda items must email them to City Recorder Amy Sowa by 4:00 p.m. Monday.

The public can view the meeting on the city’ website, its Facebook channel, or on
