Congressman Peter DeFazio has announced nearly $8 million in disaster relief funding for the Oregon Department of Transportation to repair damage caused to the state’s highways from the 2017 wildfire season.

DeFazio, Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, said the funds will help with work that still needs to be done to deal with roads impacted by the fires three years ago. Staff said this is on top of the recent announcement that $5 million has been allocated for road work needed due to damage from the recent wildfires.

The funds are part of more than $25 million allocated by the Federal Highway Administration for Oregon.
