On Tuesday, Oregon Governor Kate Brown visited southern Oregon, where she toured areas damaged by the Almeda Fire.
A release said Brown visited with local officials, firefighters, evacuees and families impacted by the fires and with community partners helping with recovery efforts.
Brown received a fire briefing from the incident command post, met with law enforcement and with members of the National Guard. She also visited an evacuation site that had been set up at Home Depot, and met with community partners representing health equity, schools, law enforcement and social justice.
Brown said the losses in Medford, Ashland, Phoenix and Talent are hard to comprehend. She said her priority is to “…secure the resources necessary to help rebuild an even stronger southern Oregon”.
