In response to the recent fires, Douglas County Commissioners have hired Jenny Boyle as the Douglas County Community Recovery Coordinator.

A release from the board, says as part of county government’s response, Boyle will be working directly with wildfire victims and their families that have been impacted by the Archie Creek, French Creek and Thielsen wildfires.

Duties will include mapping and tracking resources and connecting them directly to those affected by the fires. In addition, she will be helping others find access to necessary resources. Her job began on September 17th, and she has begun to work with individuals, businesses, and county government to connect resources with those that need them.

The release said Boyle brings with her a “…wealth of experience in community service and a background in helping connect people with resources”. Boyle retired from the Oregon Department of Human Services in 2015, where she worked as the Self Sufficiency Program Manager. Since retiring, she has worked part-time with the OSU Extension Service’s SNAP-Education Program as a Nutrition Educator.

Boyle will be working directly with the Board of Commissioners, according to the release. Those who are wildfire victims and need resources, and people who want to donate or volunteer, can contact Boyle at 440-4338 or email her: jenny@co.douglas.or.us.
