Due to a decrease in fire danger levels, primarily because of recent rains and higher nighttime humidity recoveries, the Umpqua National Forest has lowered the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to Level 3.
Mark Turney from the Forest Service said no industrial waivers will be issued. The fire danger level has also been lowered from Extreme to High.
The forest remains closed to the public and to hunting due to ongoing firefighting operations. Under IFPL 3, industrial operators are prohibited from:
*Fire wood cutting
*Cable yarding except specific gravity operated systems.
*Power saws except at loading sites and at the tractor skidder operations between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
In addition, some activities are only permitted between those hours.
The current IFPL does not allow any wood cutting either for commercial or personal use.
